Default 2010 FJ Summit

I know there are not too many members on here, but is anyone planing on going to the FJ Summit this year? July 21-25, in Ouray CO.

I am planning on it, and would like to go as a convoy with everyone from the Midwest area that is going.

I really want to go but I'm not sure what my schedule looks like.

You should try and go. It would make the ride more enjoyable driving in a convoy than alone with no one to talk to on the CB.

I reserved a room at the Best Western. I'm due to arrive Wednesday July 21st after 3 PM. Leave Sunday July 25 before 11 AM. I was thinking of going to Moab before or after the Summit, but now I think I am going to only have time to go to the Summit and not Moab. Hope to see everyone there.

Jon, you'll enjoy yourself...the summit trails are a blast. See if you can hit Moab right after. It would be worth it, since your almost already there.

It's going to be difficult with time off from work. I already need two weeks in the beginning of July for a family trip we have planed. Then time off for the Summit. It looks like I might need the whole month of July off from work.

If I do go to Moab it would be for only one full day of wheeling on Monday. Plus whatever I could get in on Sunday when I get there if its not too late. Then leave for home Tuesday and arrive back sometime Wednesday.

If I do go to Moab what trails should I do to get the most bang for my buck. (nothing too hard, I'm still stock ride hight.)

I'm probably not going to be able to go because I'm a minor (boo hoo!) but I might drive up there with a buddy just to experience the atmosphere and then head somewhere else to do somethin'.

I am planning on going to Moab before the Summit. Mainly just to do the Top of the World trail. (That is the only one I know of that dose not seem too harsh on the FJ and has and awesome destination.) I'm looking for suggestions on other trails. I am also looking at traildamage.com for other trails that don't seem too hard, and have a nice view. I am mainly going to Moab for the scenery. I went about three years ago and then again this past summer with my parents and loved it out there. We flew into Denver and rented a car and did a loop to Moab and back too Denver, no FJ. If you do go somewhere else I would suggest some of the ghost towns around the center of Colorado. We went to St. Elmo which has a off road trail by it were I think you could rent ATVs or take your own SUV on the trail if I not mistaken, again we were in a rental car and did not want to pay to rent an ATV.

Here are just a few picture of the hundreds that we took while on our trip. maybe these will convince you into going. All are in Colorado and most are of ghost towns or on the way too a ghost town.

Road to our first ghost town Turret

At the Ghost town which some of the buildings are being renovated / refurbished.

This is St. Elmo. Which is a very popular and some what more a tourist destination, but still really cool to visit.

Now, obviously this is Winfield. Smaller then St. Elmo, but it is tucked away and seems to be more a ghost town.
