Default The Stealth Bomber

STEALTH BOMBER:

In July of 2009 I was looking for a new car. I was going to get a BMW but that changed when the BMW dealership sold the 2006 E90 330 6 speed out from under me when I had given them a verbal commitment, I let them know how I felt and so they brought in a E46 325CI 5 speed coupè. I was going to get that but they had to run it through the CPO and it would not be ready for a week or so. On the week that they were working on the BMW, I looked at my other options because I was still on very rough waters with the BMW dealership so I mosy on to the toyota dealership and I’m looking around at the 4runners and I catch my eye on a 2007 FJ cruiser, I start to walk to it and a very nice SA starts to ask me questions and we start talking about my situation and he did he salesman speech about the FJ with "changing your own oil" etc and I test drove the FJ and I fell in love with it so I took it home over the weekend and guess what happens on the following Monday. I go to the toyota dealership and get the FJ Cruiser. Now it’s December of 2009 and it might seam like the worst time to start modding but I’m going to do it. The mod bug has bitten me, just like the swine flu pandemic. I’m going to take you along with me on my adventure with modding the “Stealth Bomber”.

While the reasons why I bought the FJ might have been impulsive, I did my research over the weekend and fell in love with some peoples rigs on the site, namely the Raptor, the DaPitBulls Build and many more. This was a huge deciding factor because the FJ is a vehicle that I will use in every day life and love.

My design was like everyone else's and that was to make a kick ass FJ cruiser. I wanted something that I would be able to use to go cross country on a road trip yet be able to go on the trails at the same time when I arrive at my destination, or when I get bored of the highway.

As it sits now:

Mods:
5% window tint all around
Christmas Lights on rack from GoISU

Future Mods waiting to go on:
The bumper was probably the first thing on my list and I was really deciding between a Demello and an ARB bumper. I wanted the Demello because of what people had said about him and his company. I was looking at the ARB because of the protection and I live in the Midwest where we are overpopulated with deer. I figured that the ARB would provide enough protection but the only problem is the weight. So with that being said, Demello was running a kick ass holiday special and I snatched a 3 hoop bumper from them for 1005.00 shipped to me. I haven't gotten it yet but I expect great things.

Future mods(In order):
Wheels and Tires
3" suspension lift
Dual Battery
Roof Lights
Bumper Lights
CB radio
Rear Bumper

I’m not sure what I’ll do next but I can see that it’ll be ether the dual battery or the roof lights and the bumper lights. I might do it all at the same time so I don’t have to rewire the entire truck later on when I do get the dual battery setup.

That sounds like it's going to be an awesome Fj. I was in columbia a while back and saw an FJ with lights on the rack. It wasn't night but I did appreciate it.

So the long wait has ended and I have gotten my 3 Hoop bumper from Demello. It was a long, long, long past week while I waited for it to come but it was worth it.

The bumper came around 2:45 pm and the driver dropped it off by my garage and when I got home and saw it I immediately backed out of my driveway and backed in so I could get the bumper in easier. I then proceed to engage in the battle to get the front bumper off. It wasn't hard getting everything stripped off but getting the bumper off was a bit tedious and boring. I had NO problems until I was taking off the bolts on the reinforcement bar, everything was going well and the nuts were coming off until I got to the top one on the driver side, it decided that it wanted to be a little annoying and when I tried to get it off I rounded it out (part of it was due to bad wrenches) so I loosened the rest of them and drove to a friends house where he helped in the finishing of the install. We got that bolt off no problem with his wrenches (his bite better) and after that, it took more time just unwrapping the bumper than putting it on and putting on the bolts.

so here is the new bumper (I'll go out tomorrow and get a better pic)

After a hard days work, I got some culvers (pic to come later)

Looks good. Now you have to go to the Summit with a new front bumper.
